Moved home and need installation as NHS staff.

I’ve moved home at quite short notice. I’m NHS hospital staff and need an installation at my new address since we are doing video calls to patients in need. How do I get my installation expedited please?  Thanks.

Re: Moved home and need installation as NHS staff.

as a NHS worker you should know that sending engineer out is the worst thing that can be done right now. we need to stop people going out not send them to as many people houses to catch/spread the virus as we can.

maybe mobile internet is a better option for a few months

Re: Moved home and need installation as NHS staff.

Have you checked to see whether the service is available at the new address?
Also, if there has been a previous connection at the property, then a "quick start pack" can be sent out to get you going quickly.

Not helpful!
Either I go into the hospital and patients are forced to travel there to see me, or I can reduce the number of contacts by conducting patient consultations via video link. One contact of an engineer coming to my house would be vastly less than hundreds of face to face patient contacts at hospital!

Re: Moved home and need installation as NHS staff.

but that engineer (if working) may be going into 100's houses a week. Lockdown doesn't work if you allow people to visit and spread the virus. Why should an engineer be exposed to that risk?

Get a 4G modem until things improve.

Thanks John, your post is a lot more helpful than apcyberax! There is no virgin connection at my new address unfortunately.

I'm helpful. I'm just not accepting this. people can break the lockdown for me because I'm a key working and a special snowflake.

Re: Moved home and need installation as NHS staff.

Consider getting a 4g router with an unlimited data SIM.  This can all be posted out to your house and would suffice for the time being. No need for anyone to visit and risk cross infection.

Oops - apcyberax beat me to it ......!

Re: Moved home and need installation as NHS staff.

If not VM you may need a home visit from an Openreach technician. Trouble is that Openreach says it will no longer install new broadband connections when a home visit is involved. However exceptions will be made for "vulnerable" users such as the elderly and those who lack access to either a broadband or telephone connection.

Hi Chaz4sails,

Sorry to hear we've been having issues installing your services.

Check out the purple envelope in the top right hand corner for a PM from me

Kindest regards,
