Modem and router

Does the router need to be next to the modem?

Re: Modem and router

No, and the typical Ethernet cable is more than adequate for dealing with a distance of several metres.

Re: Modem and router

Errrr... what equipment to you have? A VM Hub is a one-piece device containing your modem and the router - they are thus together.

Or have you got your own router? If so then its the distance of the length of the ethernet cable you are using.

Or do you mean the Hub near the wall socket? Or a TV box ?

I do not work for VM. My services: HD TV on VIP (+ Sky Sports & Movies & BT sport), x3 V6 boxes (1 wired 2 WiFi,) SH2 in modem mode with Airport Extreme Router +2 Airport Express's. On VIVID200, Talk Anytime Phone, x2 Mobile SIM only iPhones.
