I am sure this is a stupid question but I have been sent a Hub 5 and wi fi is fine. However I cannot understand how to attach landline as I have not received any new cables or adapter and when I plug into internet port as per previous hub the line is dead

There are no stupid questions, there are sometimes, stupid answers or responses, but never questions!

How exactly was your phone connected to the previous hub, and do you happen to know which model it was? Going forward, landline phones are connected to the Tel 1 port on the hub using an adapter, not to be confused with the four Ethernet ports on the hub, don’t try to connect a phone to those as it won’t work.

Do you still have a ‘conventional’ telephone wall socket, if so have you tried, just to cross all the T’s and dot all the I’s, connecting the phone to that and seeing if it works.

Hi Janson2912,

Welcome to the Community and thank you for posting.

Our apologies for any issues getting the phoneline connected and back up and running.

Can you please let us know if you have been able to reconnect the line to the Hub since your last post?

If not, can you please provide the information request by jem101 and we will be happy to assist further.

Thanks,

Nat

It works without dialling tone in conventional phone socket! I don’t have adapter to plug into hub! Should it work through that?

Hello Janson2912

Thanks for replying.

I can look into getting an adapter sent out for you.
If you don't mind, I will need to send you a private message to pass security.
If you can check the purple envelope top right of your screen that would be great.

The landline is VoIP.

If you have a cordless digital phone, you can connect that to the phone 1 socket.

In my case the router is in the loft and I had to run some 2 pair telephone cable down to where my old BT line came in. I removed the old BT line and inserted the new line. All my phones now work off the internal phone network.

The virgin engineers should be able to give you this cable when they did your install, but I don't think they can touch BT equipment.
