Installation - new broadband connection - delay

Hello, my installation date is delayed by more than a month from today - 6th Jan to 17th feb. I was waiting from christmas for a broad connection. Because of the christmas and new year, I thought it was a busy period and my installation date was delayed to 6th Jan. 

When I spoke with the customer service, they mentioned it was delayed because of permits and cable works.

But I didn't any answer why they not requested for any permits until last minute, no one from VM team done any inspections. And, my neighbours are using virgin media services, hence is it a lot of work to lay a cable into my house? does it need lot of permits.

VM blame "council permits" all of the time, but the real delay is simply organisational incompetence on the part of Virgin Media.  There's no way of getting the company to be organised and sort things out, it just happens when it happens.  Delays of months are frequent.  Sorry that's a bit downbeat, but that's how VM behave.

Then make contact with your local highways authority/council (whoever issues permits for street works in your area) and find out from them if VM (or its sub-contractors) has applied for any permission for your installation.

You can also use the website https://one.network/ to check for any planned roadworks in your area (use the date drop down to look for any future work). Results may not be that complete on the site as not all street work is listed.
