Been waiting for my installation to be done, the brown box has been installed outside, but the installation date keeps being delayed, originally 5th jan now march 17th. I have asked prejnstallation, they keep saying permit, but i thought the outside work is done. No one is giving me a clear answer. I have read around the firum and can see similar posts also i have read about the compensation. Anyone here clear anything up?

Hi Geev,
Thanks for your post, and a warm welcome to our Community Forums.
I'm sorry to hear there have been some delays with the installation of your address. There are a couple of things here, the brown box being installed doesn't always mean that the cable to go here is connected to the cabinet - this is done by a specialist team, and in most cases, does require a permit as we may need to perform construction work.
I can see you have spoken with our team, who have since advised on the next steps and have been able to get things sorted for you. If you do need anything else, please do let us know and we'll do our best to help.
Thanks,

thats simply not true - it should be - in SOME instances it needs a permit and if it does the council will normally do the paper work in 48 hours which then seems to turn into 6 weeks when quoted by VM - just another of their mis truths
as to a specialist team - thats another lie or should that be exaggeration - its a couple of blokes in a white van who have no real specialist knowledge other than how to feed a cable down a hole and pull

The OP can find out the truth, just phone their council (usually county council unless it's a "unitary" or metropolitan authority) ask for the streetworks team, and ask them if any Section 50 permits have been applied for on behalf of VM around their property, when that was, and when issued.
Pretty normal to find that VM haven't applied for any permit yet, or that they've had it for weeks and done nothing.
