Installation date changed to over a year from now!

I placed my order on the 3rd of Dec 2020 with an installation date of 4th Jan 2021. Come to find out it's been changed without letting me know to 27th Dec 2021!

Surely someone is playing a prank on me, how is this possible?

That's got to be a typo on someone's behalf.

Re: Installation date changed to over a year from now!

You would think so! Being on the phone for 2 hours trying to sort this with the pre-installation team. Got told they can see the same thing and unable to change it. Put me on hold to check a few more things. 20 mins of hold time later, I got hung up on...

Do you have any OpenReach options at your location?

If so go with them and wait until VM get their act together

Sadly no, it’s a new build with virgin cables built in. My only choice is Virgin.

There are virgin labelled boxes inside the flat as well as virgin labelled tv ports. Which is even more frustrating because you’d think all it needs is a quick install/activation.

OK - they do have an issue at the moment as lots of their (and others!) new equipment is stuck in containers on the backs of lorries in car parks at the channel ports !

Re: Installation date changed to over a year from now!

That's interesting..

So after countless hours on calls, they've admitted they made a mistake and have offered me 20th of Jan now.. instead of my original 4th of Jan.

Not impressed with Virgin Media at all...

They are prevaricating as the lorry load is still in Rotterdam 🙂

Re: Installation date changed to over a year from now!

you should note that openreach have a legal obligation to provide service to any address where it is reasonably possible (and unless you live at the top of a mountain it should be reasonably possible).

so even if virgin never get you going you should be able to get an openreach service.
