Install of Virgin Media

Hi, I’m having Virgin Media installed into my property which has never had VM before so has no box on the wall.

We’ve got Virgin right outside our front wall on one of the triangles in the ground, one of the Virgin pre-install engineers popped round today to have a chat to show me what they’d do during the install - he also advised me that Virgin themselves don’t do the construction work of taking the cables from the pavement to a box on the property, it’s outsourced to an external company.

He also advised that I could do with being at home when these chaps come along and do the work, so I could tell them where I wanted the box on the wall going (to make it simple and clean on Virgin install day) but then also told me that there’s no contact number for the construction guys and that they don’t have a date.

I know first hand that sometimes they don’t turn up before the install date and it gets knocked back… anyone ever had any experience with the company that do the cabling and know any way of getting in contact? I’m sure it can’t be impossible.

Thanks

Once the job is hisanded over to the subcontractor it's just left to them to get on with it. There's really nothing you can do.

My name is NOT Alessandro. That's just a tag Virginmedia sticks on some contributors. Please ignore it.

The contractors will turn up with no notice some time before the install date, you will probably try phoning the pre install number thinking someone must know what’s happening and give you a date, but no the pull team will turn up at any time, most probably when you’ve popped to the supermarket and you now have a cable run through your hedge and a brown box at a jaunty angle.

or very likely after the install date. It's only an estimate.

Hi piyusmagh,

A warm welcome and thanks for posting on our community forums. As our community members have advised, unfortunately, you will have no way of contacting our subcontractors to find out when they will be arriving to carry out the construction work which is required before your installation date.

As our team are able to carry this part out without you being present, you may not be informed of a time or date when this will be carried out, however the work will be carried out before your installation takes place.

Kind regards Jodi.
