Hi! I want to move my TV about 5 feet away from its current location. Trouble is there's only about 2 feet of slack on the cable from instillation. Would I still be best to get an engineer out or do you think I could do it myself with something from ebay? I've had conflicting information so thought I'd ask here.
Many Thanks!

It is against VMs T&Cs to mess with their network cabling.
The white coax is specialised triple screened in order to prevent ingress from Terrestrial TV, DAB radio & 4/5G Moblie phones that all share the RF spectrum VM uses.
If the distance from the splitter or wall socket is 3 metres or less VM will provide a 3 metre cable. Any requirement for more than this will need a tech visit to make up the cable at a cost of £25.
The other alternative is to buy a longer HDMI lead & leave the box where it is.

I have called virgin 3 times to ask for a longer cable so I can move my TV, hub and router just 1.5 metres to the right. The cable supplied at instillation have practically no extra length on them at all. I'm getting really frustrated now as everytime they say they will send the cable, but I still haven't received it. Can anyone suggest a decent cable fit for purpose I can buy please? Last attempt to reach out for help before I cancel the contract all together.

You did get an authoritative answer on this in your last topic on the same subject
https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Community-Natter/I-need-more-cable/m-p/5161191
Are you seeking a standard 3m cable or a longer custom-made cable via a £25 VM tech visit? You can't (should not) use your own DIY cable bought online or elsewhere.
Either way, the 'Community Natter' forum does not often get replies via the VM forum team. Try your query in the 'Quick Start' forum and make clear what type/length of cable you are after.

Yes I did receive an authoritative response before but unfortunately when I called virgin to ask for a call out I was told I didn't need one, they would send me a 5 metre cable to switch myself (accordingto the man i spoke to that was the smallest length) Which hasn't happened dispite 3 calls. I just want to move my TV.... I was asking the forum if they had any success with using any other branded cables as obviously virgin aren't going to be supplying me with one anytime soon.

Hi @NICOLAH11,
Thank you for your posts and welcome back to our community forums. We're here to help.
I'm very sorry to hear that you're having some set up related issues due to the cabling in your home. We would need to send out an engineer to ensure that we provide the correct length of cable you need, and to ensure it's installed correctly. If you'd like to proceed with that, there would be a call out charge of £25 as mentioned earlier in this thread.
Please let us know if you're happy to accept that charge and we can help proceed with this.
Thanks,
