Hub cable not compatible with Virgin wall socket

Hi, I’m unable to follow the set up instructions of my Virgin broadband Hub. The existing Virgin wall socket has a cable dangling out, labelled CON 3.9. This is not compatible with the wall socket end of the white cable provided with the router. The CON 3.9 cable has a spinning nut at the end. Has anyone encountered this issue, is an engineer visit required?

Many thanks!

Re: Hub cable not compatible with Virgin wall socket

it looks like the isolator has been removed from the wall box. you'll most likely need an engineer out to install a new one.

you can try and call in or wait a few days for staff here to get to the post and they can arrange one

Re: Hub cable not compatible with Virgin wall socket

as a quick/permanent fix have a look in your local B & Q or screwfix or the like

https://www.diy.com/departments/tristar-data-cable-coupler/571706_BQ.prd

the input needs an isolator but you should have got that in the quickstart kit as the cable supplied

connect it up and activate the hub and hopefully it will work - if it does you can still book a tech to make a better job of it - if it does not work as quickstarts sometimes do not then you need a tech regardless

Re: Hub cable not compatible with Virgin wall socket

Un update in case anyone else has the same issue: the B&Q cable coupler worked fine, was able to connect.

Thanks again.
