Hub 5 Poor signal upstairs, only had Virgin for 2 days

Following on from my previous post, I called Virgin Media as I am barely getting a signal upstairs and in my loft. I did the factory reset as requested and have now renamed the network and seperated SSIDs.  The router behaved in the same way, froze on applying settings for everything I updated, updated regardless of message it gave/freezing (I had to close the browser and clear cache to log back in).

My main issue now is how poor the signal is upstairs (I can't connect multiple devices upstairs and in my cinema room in the loft), only one bar of signal. Ii have tried to call VM, however systems are down so I thought I'd post here and see if anyone had any advice, I'm thinking that I should cancel while I still can.

I called VM this morning and was advised to reset the router, which I've done and I've experienced the same issue with it freezing on applying settings.

Where in the home is the VM Hub 5 in relation to the loft room?

How many floors in between the two?

2 floors up, hub is in living room. I also barely get a signal in my bedroom, one floor up. TIA

2 floors up is a big ask for any WiFi router. You need to get another cabled WiFi access point up there. Depending on your package VM may be able to supply Pods for free to distribute the WiFi signal.

My bedroom is only one floor up and it keeps dropping off or not connecting at all.

Everything in the house had a better signal with my last ISP, although we did have some signal issues.

My kettle won't stay connected and it's about 20 feet from the router in an open plan kitchen/living room.

VM will provide free wifi pods on some of their packages

As well as issues of signal strength over such a large distance, the Hub 5 uses the latest wi-fi 6 / AX standard. Some older wi-fi devices, and some consumer devices with basic 2.4 GHz wi-fi included, may struggle to connect too. Some tweaks to the Hub 5 settings may help connect those devices but won't remedy issues to do with signal strength/coverage.
