Hub 5 Availability

Blitzbok
Dialled in

Hello,

It has been a while since the Virgin Hub 5 has been announced. I am curious when customers will be able to request these routers? I have requested one for some time now, but were told by customer staff that they were either still testing the device with a smaller group of customers or more recently that the device is out of stock.

Thank you in advance

They will announce it when it becomes available - never, before it released.

Thats not accurate reporting - it still isnt generally released - you cannot order one - its on what they call "a soft launch to invited customers only".

That's because they are working on the Firmware to get the Hub5 to be compatible with their Pods. When that is written, tested and proven to work - the release date will be officially announced.

Might be next Monday or sometime deep into 2023 - no-one knows for certain yet - or the guys that do are not saying anything concrete - yet - AFAIK

Ah. A well known ISP news pusblisher of is incorrect and Jbrennad, 'very insightful person' from Virgin Media forums, who "doesn't work for Virgin Media" is correct. I know which I believe. Now, if you do not know when it will be launched, go and comment on something that you do know about. I had hoped that someone from Virgin Media would get in touch. Thank you.

They will - it takes them a few days to get to threads on here (I know about that) - but the message re. Hub5's will be the same - we shall see when they answer here and I am prepared to eat humble pie if there is a different answer.

The truth is its released VM don't say it and we will get the hub 6 pop round and say wait does this mean the hub 5 is released? and heres the reason VM don't want a rush of people asking for the hub 5 so they never say its released because people with an old hub will demand one I really hope I get a hub 5 when my super hub 1 dies or I'm the last of the super hub 1 users and need to be upgraded.

Back in October we announced the launch of the new Hub 5 and we’ll be offering this to customers at no extra cost as part of a phased rollout.. .......

FAQ

How can I get a Hub 5? / I’m on Gig1 Fibre and need the Hub 5 to maximise my service

We’re rolling the Hub 5 out in phases, and we’re emailing specific groups of customers over time to invite them to order ahead of a wider launch in 2022. Only customers who receive the email invite will be able to order for the time being.

Why is the rollout being phased?

We’re ironing out some kinks around customers who have Gig1, Intelligent WiFi Pods, and home phone via hub. Once we've addressed these issues we'll start to include these customers in the rollout. You'll receive an email with an invite to order when this is ready.

Update 24th Feb 22: we've started to send email invites to a small number of customers who have home phone via hub ahead of offering this more widely to this cohort of customers. We'll share an update when we have some more news.

Why can't I get Intelligent WiFi Plus with the Hub 5?

We're working on making the Hub 5 compatible with our Intelligent WiFi Pods and this will be available soon but in the meantime you'll be able to grab a PowerLine Booster if you need to extend your WiFi in your home.

I have very fond and stable memories of my Super Hub 2. Pity it couldn't handle faster speed. Long may your Superhub 1 live.

That is the last update we got from Virgin, which was almost a year ago. Hoping there was some more news on that front.
