Hub 3 modem mode not accepting known password

Had a superhub 3? (Hitron CGNV4) installed today, logged in fine with the username/password printed on the unit. Switched to modem mode and now dont have a username field and just a password field. Entering the same password as earlier, printed on the unit, doesnt work, I get a wrong password error.

Any clues any one?

Re: Hub 3 modem mode not accepting known password

Hitron? Are you in the R.o.I ? If so there will be little sensible advice we can offer here due to the differences with the UK.

You can always restore any Hub to the default settings printed on its sticker by doing a pinhole reset. Note there are usually 2 passwords - one for the wifi and one for the Hub settings - try both!

Re: Hub 3 modem mode not accepting known password

We're in mainland England, I think they supply the Hitron with business accounts (we run a business from a residential address). I'm afraid I've done that - did the pinhole reset and tried both passwords, even tried the old Changeme.

Last case scenario I might bring out our old SH2, does anyone know if it would be worse to use that in modem mode as opposed to the SH3 in router mode?

Re: Hub 3 modem mode not accepting known password

OK - if the Hitron is anything like the Hub3 - pinholes are "tricky" do it one more time as per below. If "business" is like "residential" your SH2 will have been inactivated (can only have 1 active Hub per account). So you will have to call in to get the Hitron deactivated and SH2 reinstated - but then again, I dont know if you can use the SH2 on a business package.

___________________________________________________
Note that a pinhole reset on a Hub3 can be a bit problematic - so do it (again) EXACTLY this way (not as the VM website says!).

With the Hub switched "on", disconnect any ethernet connections and then push in the “reset pin” with the end of a paperclip/thin nail/SIM tray “tool” or similar (bigger items like ball point pen ends may not press it in far enough) until you feel it at the “stop point” and hold it there firmly for a "timed" minimum of 60 seconds do NOT manually restart the Hub at any time. Leave it 10' or so to stabilise and then your passwords/passphrase for both the Hub settings and the Wifi networks will revert to the two printed on the Hub sticker on its base/side/card. Make sure you use the wifi one for devices connecting to the wifi and the settings/admin one to access the Hub (it is a six digit numeric one).

See if that sorts it.

Re: Hub 3 modem mode not accepting known password

Thanks, I'll give that a go. Something I'm finding a little odd is the login page is the same as the old hub 2 one and is copyright dated 2010, wasnt really expecting that.

Re: Hub 3 modem mode not accepting known password

No good, still the same. Interestingly though the 'normal' pages served when in router mode are the newer business pages 'http://192.168.0.1/index.html#status_system/m/1/s/0', but I can get to the old 2ac pages by going to 'http://192.168.100.1/VmLogin.html' which are offered when in modem mode.

Think it might have to be a support call...

Re: Hub 3 modem mode not accepting known password

OMG, have just figured it out - We've got 5 access points here, one of which is the old hub 2, which had been setup in modem mode with the same ip as the new unit when its in modem mode. After disconnecting the old one I get to see the new one. <kicks self>

Thanks for your assistance.
