Hub 3 factory password fails, reset does not solve it

Discovered today that the settings password does not work anymore.

Tried to reset it, no success. Rejected with "The password you entered is incorrect.".

It looks like the way to solve it is to replace the hub...

Did you do a full reset (Pin hole press for at least 60 seconds)?

Yes, press pinhole for 60 seconds, then switch off for 60 seconds, wait it to start, try to login with the factory settings passwords (printed on the bottom of the router (not default WiFi)) - still the same error.

Hello

When you do the reset for 60 secs do not power off the hub as doing so revert back to the original settings, after pressing the reset button for 60 secs leave hub on and wait for the lights to stabilize the bottom light will go white, when you go too http://192.168.0.1 if the reset has worked it will ask you for language, once you select that you then should be able to login.

Thank you, your solution worked. I'm a bit confused though, as the page https://www.virginmedia.com/help/virgin-media-reset-your-hub clearly says "Turn the power switch off and on again" after "press the pinhole reset button for 10 seconds". Perhaps it is something for the VM to consider.

Hi

I'm just reading these old posts as I am having the same issue. 

I have done both what Virgin said 20 second reset hold and switch off at the wall and also what you have said, held for 60seconds and left it alone. 

When I type in the http it takes me to the Welcome Back screen, asked for password which doesn't accept the one I set or the one on bottom of server 

Help me please 😣😫

Wish I'd never messed with it the first place.

I'm sorry to hear you're having some issues with the hub,

 

Just to confirm, you've tried a pin hole reset and the password on the bottom of the hub isn't working?
