House has a splitter installed, can’t connect Hub 3

Hi there! Would appreciate your help.

 

Just moved into a house that has a Virgin Media box already in the wall, we’ve ordered a Hub 3 for wifi only and the cable it came with doesn’t fit anywhere (slightly too large) there’s a splitter coming from the Virgin Media box, but neither of the cables seem to provide any wifi! Green light is flashing and green wifi symbol is on, wifi can be detected on my iPhone but no connection yet, any advice would be appreciated!

It appears that an installer of Sky services has re-purposed the Virgin Media wall box and hole in the wall to run two coax cables, assuming they are connected to a dish outside.

This would explain why the VM service isn't working.

Can you confirm by checking where the two cables run to on the outside of your home?

Take the cover of the box and see if the old VM co-axcable is still in place.?  You may be lucky and the Sky installer didn't actually remove it.

Sorry to hear you have been having this issue with your install, I would like to go about sorting this with you, so that I can do so I will need to confirm some information from you in a quick private message, if you have not used this feature before you can access it via the envelope at the top of your screen.

You’re correct, the cables run outside up to a sky dish, I’ve booked for a technician to arrive in the next hour so hopefully will get this sorted!
