Re: Help with My IP

Why would you want to change the first two sections when the device you will be port forwarding to should always be 192.168.x.x?

Re: Help with My IP

your game server would have to be on your local subnet if its not you can;t access it.

I dont't think you are understanding how port forwarding forks or what you are trying to so.

Are you hosting the server on your home network

Re: Help with My IP

The whole concept of port forwarding is you connect to your router's public IP address and it then forwards any requests on specifc ports to the local IP address on your network, in this case the static 192.168.x.x address you've defined in the port forwarding rules.

I'm not sure what you are trying to achieve?

Re: Help with My IP

You need to assign the server a static IP (192.168.x.x) on the router.

You then need to setup port forwarding rules to the static 192.168.x.x. address assigned to your server.

You then need to use your Routers' Public IP address to connect to your server when you are outside of your home network. When you are at home you would continue to use the static 192.168.x.x address.
