Hi guys ,

I am aware that I am on VM200 , he says that should be a 200 Mbps Download / 21 Mbps Upload Speed.

He said its been acting up and i just want to check that everything is okay and make sure Im paying for a service that I am actually receiving into the home, Here are my HUB 3 Levels: (Could anyone outline any issues or faults that I need to contact VIRGIN MEDIA about ASAP)

A quick glance over does not show any problems leaping out to me. Others who are better-informed may have more to say.

Who is the 'he' you are referring to in message #1.

Not, by any chance, someone claiming to be from VM who rang you up to say they had 'detected problems' with your connection?

If so, that was a scam call getting ready to commit some kind of fraud attempt against you.

Hi Goslow,

This was my son , He knows alot about computers and technology. Atleast more then me.

My son uses the internet and needs a connection because he is autistic and uses gaming as his release for his needs.

I want this to get sorted ASAP.

Many Thanks ,

Tracy

You posted something very similar back in Feb '21. VM posted back on that topic but there was no conclusion to the last post. Did you establish the cause of the issue back then and what was the resolution? What issue is your son experiencing at the moment with the connection?

Gamers' complaints are often to do with latency on the connection and, on your previous topic, you set up a BQM graph to monitor the connection. That live monitoring graph is showing as empty at the moment. If your IP address has changed in the meantime, or you have deactivated the monitoring, that could be updated so you can start tracking the connection again to see if any high latency is present.

This 'Quick Start' forum might not get you the best help with this query. One of the forum VIPs or moderators might kindly move this topic over to either 'Networking and Wi-Fi' or 'Speed' where the resident tech experts should be able to give better advice than me. In the meantime, or until that happens, someone else may also chip in on here.

I did.

The resolution to that is that connection went back to normal and my son didn't tell me about any ongoing or recent issues. So I decided it must be fixed.

Now its happened again, i dont think hes bothered too much about Latency but he wants to make sure we are getting the full speed we are getting into the home and that he receives that as well , he dosent want me to pay for something that we don't get fully.

Thanks for your replies , Hope it gets sorted.

Thanks Tracy.

OK, well you know the means to do the BQM graph should that be required for recording latency results on the connection. As far as speed goes, I think I am right in saying that the only results VM accept for measuring purposes are from

https://www.speedtest.net/

If he thinks connection speed is not right, then he would need to start collecting some download/upload test results at different times of the day and different days of the week to see how they match your package speed. Your hub stat's in message #1 show you are provisioned correctly for at least 200 down and 20 up (can't see the advertised VM spec's as the VM website page for that info seems to be broken at the moment and is just showing an empty page!).
