Good Afternoon,
I'm a new customer who had a install date of 6th July after moving into a new house. This was not ideal as we ordered on 21st June, but we managed to get annual leave to get us up to this date.
Today this was changed to 15th July and while a call managed to get this reduced to 8th July, at least one of us has work we can't move. I was then offered self install on 2nd July and accepted but looking at the cable this was very short so would only be ok for a downstairs router. No landline and very short cable coming into the house, so TV unlikely without me manually extending it, and not sure what VM's views are on this.
Is it possible to arrange a self install and then a full install a week or so later? Is it something they offer before i rage having to call them again and explain my query/account verification 3-4 times on one call.

You can do it that way, but you will be paying for a TV service you can't use in the interim. You have up to 4 weeks to get any wiring altered free of charge. After that time it will not qualify as part of the installation so would be chargeable.

Personally, I would not accept the self-install as the wiring needs to be changed.
Virgin use specialised cable that is designed to keep RF noise from other broadcast services & mobile phone networks out of their system. Using your own cable would compramise this & could result in the whole street suffering interference to services. Altering the cable also alters your signal levels which require street cabinet access to adjust.
The phone service plugs into the router/modem, so you can use extension cables if necessary.

Thanks for the reply, that's new regarding the landline. We had an actual landline connection last time we use VM.
Doing my own extension is not really something i want to do, and the priority is getting broadband so we can all work from home so i would be ok with doing a self install with just the router and then arrange for VM to sort the wiring for TV at a later date, but don't know if that is an option or if the costs would be the same as new install.

Hi @Redemption80 thanks for posting and welcome to our community.
You have mentioned 'Friday' for your quick start self install. Do you mean today? If so have you completed it? If you have I would like to help you with the cabling/wiring for the TV issue. If you get back to me, I am eager to help you sort this.

Thanks for the response Lee.
Yes today, everything has arrived and the setup went smoothly and everything is working.
It is just a temporary setup as the cables weren't long enough, so the query is can we arrange and pay for VM to extend the wiring rather than me go down the DIY route?
