F-secure no help on Virgin site as new customer

Hello,

I received an email when getting started with Virgin:

'Complete your F-Secure registration

Thank you for adding award winning F-Secure SAFE to your Virgin Media account, all you need to do now is register and install it.'

I'm not sure where this has come from, nor do I wish for this addition. There appears to be nowhere online within Virgin to stop/cancel this and 'Help' online and phone are unable to offer advice or solution.

How do I prevent this service from taking effect? So far, everything has been swift and perfect, this part however seems a little dodgy and I do not wish to be contractually associated with it.

Please advise,

Many thanks in advance

F Secure is an opt in extra. It is now Virgin Media Internet Security

https://my.virginmedia.com/my-apps/onlinesecurity/toolkit.html

You'd have specifically register for it for any additional charges to be taken separately to your Virgin Media bill.

Hi Ben,

Cheers for your help with this one. I guess I can ignore the email then.

All the best and thanks again,

Michael

Re: F-secure no help on Virgin site as new customer

Hi Ben,

I am in the same position however I am now receiving emails from f-secure. Below is an example of an email I have received:

“You recently added award-winning online security powered by F-Secure to your Virgin Media account but you haven't yet registered and installed it.”

if I haven’t registered or installed does this mean I can ignore these emails?

Many Thanks,

Natalie

If you don't want it, ignore the emails.

After registering you'll get 12 months free, then it's chargeable.

It's not that anymore. It's 3 months before charges apply, but the yearly cost is less than it was when it was the previous offer.

Details are on the link I posted earlier.

Re: F-secure no help on Virgin site as new customer

Hi Ben,

I am in a similar position and worried that just because I decide to ' express interest' in F Secure while setting up new VM account, I will start getting charged after 3 months even if I don't use the email link to register with F Secure or install the software.

Can you please help me understand how the F-Secure subscription through VM works:

1. Charged by F Secure or Virgin Media?

2. The VM registration process offered F Secure as a service without disclosing any associated costs. How can I update VM that I don't need F Secure and never installed it?

Any clarity on this matter will be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Re: F-secure no help on Virgin site as new customer

When I had the email you had to download and register the software, then you were told how long the free period was and how much it would cost after the free period. If you just ignored it you didn't get charged anything - you just got a few reminder emails trying to scare you into needing it - same as all software that says it protects your PC does.

Re: F-secure no help on Virgin site as new customer

Thank you Z92. That is reassuring.

So Virgin wont just tag on the charges to my monthly bill?

Out of curiosity, people who do sign up for FSecure (through VM), do they pay directly to FSecure or VM charges it on FSecure behalf?

Thank you again.

Re: F-secure no help on Virgin site as new customer

I'm not sure who pays for it, but from the wording it seems like Virgin add it onto your monthly bill. That would make sense since they are promoting it.
