Ethernet adapter incompatible

Hello

We have just joined Virgin and we like our laptops to be hard wired using ethernet, we have three laptops, one with an ethernet port which works fine, but the other two use an adapter - however this does not work, it worked with our previous provider so we are perplexed. I use one of these laptops for work so its important I get up and running asap. Can someone help please?

Many thanks

Carol

Re: Ethernet adapter incompatible

Have you tried a different LAN port?

Assuming that you have Windows laptops have you run the network troubleshooter?

If you need to buy another adapter get one which is a different make and model.

Re: Ethernet adapter incompatible

Can you provide the make and model of the adapters (I assume they are identical).

Also, what cable are you using to connect the adapters to the hub? Have swapped these with the working laptop?

Re: Ethernet adapter incompatible

The hub isn't in modem mode is it?

Only 1 ethernet port will work if that is the case - make sure it is in router mode!

Re: Ethernet adapter incompatible

just an heads up if you want to stay in modem mode and disable the Wifi of the hub you can do something like this.

1 lead into the virgin router from the switch to connect the extra ports.
1 lead from adaper into switch then plug your other plugs where ever you want them.

5 port and 8 port

Connect the switch by this cable or simler cables - there are cheaper ones but i stick by this brand.

Re: Ethernet adapter incompatible

If you want your hub to be in modem mode, put it back there and connect your laptops to your router.
