Driveway and Footpath

Hi,

I have approval from Wolverhampton Council to lower 6 kerbs outside my house.

Virgin have sent x2 people to ensure we can get the work done.

They left no number and they said they would send an email to wolverhampton council informing them that the work can be carried out.

No email has been sent to wolverhampton council and no work has been done yet

It’s been nearly 12 months since I paid the council for the initial process to begin

can someone help please

thanks

A VM person should respond in a day or two.

In the meantime... what do VM have to move for you to drop kerbs. Can you post up a few photos of the area where the kerbs need dropping. We should be able to tell you whether it is ever likely to happen.

If there is a street cabinet there and it was installed before any driveways were "opened up" - then there is very little chance VM will move that - due to the massive cost and disruption it would cause to all customers in the area.

If its something else then it may be possible

I do not work for VM. My services: HD TV on VIP (+ Sky Sports & Movies & BT sport), x3 V6 boxes (1 wired, 1 WiFi, 1 on PA) Hub5 in modem mode with Apple Airport Extreme Router +2 Airport Express's. On 250Mbps, Talk Anytime Phone, x2 Mobile SIM only iPhones.

As the council has given approval for the kerb drops I think we should believe that this was done only because VM has already approved the work needed to permit access to/from the driveway. Question: has VM been paid yet?

Hi All,

I really appreciate the response, We have  C.A.T Box under the path outside i have attached the picture below, i have approval from Wolverhampton Council to get the work done.

VM have come to see the path twice and approved the work, but they would need a send an email to Wolverhampton Council (I have the email address) so the work can be carried out.

Any help would be brilliant

Thank you

Did VM tell you that their cover is OK where it is and suitable for vehicle weights, or has it got to be moved?

Interesting Q from jpeg1.... because that cover was clearly installed before the drive was "opened up" and hence would be fully on the pavement and not intended to be driven over - just walked over.

So I guess it will depend on whether that cover/pit was built to a spec to support traffic. I would suspect if it isn't.... they are never going to re-site it.

What have they said in that regard?

Exactly. I asked because if the cover has to be dropped in height to match a new slope in the pavement, or otherwise adjusted, Virginmedia will expect to be paid for the work.

Hi ,

So VM did say the CATV Box is fine to drive over we would just need to have path at a bit of a slope.

VM have said it is fine  I dont mind another representative coming out to check the box again but we have had x2 people come and view the CATV box and they said it was fine.

They came out to check to see if it could withstand the weight of a vehicle which they said it can.

who came from VM - did you pay for any survey or was it just a tech who came and said it would be fine - if the latter thats not how it works - afaik you need an official survey done and thats a few hundred ponds
