Disconnection of phone line

Hello,

we’re having work done on our house and for this to be done, we need to disconnect the overhead phone line that comes from the telephone pole outside.

I have Virgin Media Fibre so I believe this cable is defunct and not in use so fine to have disconnected. Am I right to think this?

thanks

VM has its own phone system and does not use Openreach's cables at all.

Hi @Dmurph22

Is your landline phone plugged into the hub, or into the wall socket?

I don't work for Virgin Media.

I don’t have a landline phone at all. Just wifi and TV. It plugs into the virgin outlet on the wall and the old phone line box has nothing plugged into it. Image attached.

thank you

A phone line can be disconnected without a problem to anyone. Do not, however, damage it as it belongs to Openreach (not you).

Thanks, I’m getting Openreach to disconnect it themselves I just wanted to check that it isn’t connected to my services in any way…. I don’t think it is but wasn’t sure
