Different wall socket

Hi! I just moved and I’m trying to install my kit but the wall socket looks different as the cable doesn’t fit in. I’m trying to book a appointment with an engineer but VM take too long to do it so I’d like to solve it by myself. What should I do? Any idea? and if I buy a adapter? which adapter should I buy? Here’s the pictures of the wall socket.

Re: Different wall socket

Is the other side of that wall where the Virgin external box is ? As that doesn't look like a Virgin internal box..

There’s a Telewest external brown box.

Re: Different wall socket

Great, follow the cables from the brown box and see where they go. Do they go to the phone socket?

Re: Different wall socket

Looks like the previous occupant has removed the Virgin cable & had an aerial cable put through the hole. You can see the cheap coax going into the old omnibox outside.

Re: Different wall socket

I would say there may be a wall socket somewhere else as there is an RG6 cable going up & then round to the side wall. What I see confirms my suspicions about the aerial connection, which looks as if it splits to go to another room (the small red cover on the wall of the 1st floor) & then continues up to the roof.
