Damage to property

I do not have virgin media however they have damaged my brand new drive by installing cable when I was out. Who do I report this to. I have been in contact a number of times with virgin media and I'm just being passed round to different teams. 

Looking at these forums it appears that shoddy workmanship is just the norm for them.

Can anyone advise please?

The water pipe belongs to me it’s on my property and was damaged by VM, who incidentally doesn’t have a wayleave or easement permit to use my property for their ducting.

It’s a surface water drain that is damaged, while it is my understanding that I am responsible for this, I am not responsible for VM digging through it.

They are appalling. No consideration whatsoever. I've never known a company like it. They had no permission from me to access my drive. I was out at the time. It was only when I returned that I saw they had dug up my drive for a cable. I mean who does that. Completely agree with you.....you are not responsible for their actions which has caused the damage. They need to rectify it. Looking at these forums and the amount of complaints they get it seems that shoddy workmanship is their norm. I hope you get it sorted

I'm astonished you said that, Roger.   VM trespassed on his property, dug up the lawn to lay a cable that they had no permission to do, and broke a drainage pipe. 

And you think the innocent victim of this should pay for the repair?

Perhaps "responsible" here means "in charge of arranging to reinstate the pipe and pass all costs on to VM".

This is probably a case for a solicitor as it looks like you have experienced property damage as a result of things being unable to drain properly, and there's also the wayleave dispute (as in, there's no wayleave), you also then have all your legal costs and the costs associated with repairing the drain which need to be paid by VM.

Since a lamp post sits on that land as well it's possible that you have a service strip, though your deeds should make that clear.

There is no “service strip” the lamp post has permission to be there (well the council has permission) dating back to when a portion of the property was sold to the council to widen the public footpath, the water authority has visited and are preparing to reconnect the drain and pass the bill to VM.

why would you be astonished - if Roger does not work for VM - hence the general tone of many of his replies he certainly is 100% biased in their favour

If Gareth doesn't challenge the VM access to his land very soon, they will have established a right to enter any time they like to maintain or extend their cables.
