Re: Constant ping spikes since NOVEMBER (on Ethernet!)

Ok thanks for this info, how can I go about solving this while staying with virgin media? Would a router replacement be worth a try? Maybe mine is defective...

Re: Constant ping spikes since NOVEMBER (on Ethernet!)

You could try and post the information from the status pages, such as the upstream, downstream and log tabs.

But a ping spike of 15ms is considered completely normal.Typically I would expect anything upto about 25ms.

On a wired connection? I really don’t think it’s acceptable to be honest. It’s causing noticeable lag in real time games. And it’s extremely often as you see in the screenshot.

Also how can I get this upstream info etc you talk of?

Re: Constant ping spikes since NOVEMBER (on Ethernet!)

Yes, a ping time of 25ms on a wired connection is considered typical and expected for Virgin Media.

If you open a web browser and type in the address 192.168.0.1 you should be able to see the VM page where you can "Check router status".or similar. Ignore the login prompt as you don't need it and just click the link.
