Connection issues..

Hi, I am having issues with my internet connection. Running very slowly, This has been an ongoing intermittent issue. After many reboots and resets and phone calls., I purchased an Archer C7 router and put my virgin router into modem mode. This seemed to help for a while, but I am now having very similar issues. So could well have been coincidence, hope someone can help me out,as it is very frustrating, Regards Simon..

Re: Connection issues..

Buying your own router or mesh is usually a good move, but it can only sort out router and wireless matters.  A slow and intermittent connection is usually a fault between the cable modem side of the VM hub and VM's network gear, so I'm guessing that you may have sorted out wifi worries, but you;ve still got any underlying cable problem.

Unfortunately all of your hub's status data is within accepted limits, and the Network isn't show anything that indicates a consistent problem.  There's a solitary upstream T3 timeout which on its own doesn't prove anything (DOCSIS connections always collect a few errors both up and down, what matters is how quicly and what type they are).  Personally I'm unimpressed that your primary downstream channel is at -3.5 dBmV and "only" 36 dB SNR, but those are definitely within the accepted ranges and on their own VM won't do anything about that.  I suggest you do a series of speedtests (ideally from an ethernet connected device) at different times and post the results (both up and down).  Also, set up a Broadband Quality Monitor, let that run for 24 hours and then post a link to shared live graph in a reply here, then we can have a look for other possible causes.

Re: Connection issues..

Also an Archer C7 user but on 200Mb/20Mb.
Although you mentioned rebooting, did this include your C7?
I have found that the C7 benefits from a reboot every couple of weeks or so.
Bad news being that subject to confirmation the maximum throughput is much lower than the quoted advertising.
I would see how the speedtest results go prior to a reboot of both a)Hub 3 and b)C7.
Best of luck.
