I have received my VM router and have an email saying my account is now activated and can setup my router, quickstart or whatever.
But right now, I'm still connected to BT, still online? So I'm confused, was I suppose to cancel my contract myself with BT? In the past it was always automatic, I've never had to cancel by phoning my provider up???
Help please what steps should i take right now, if I plugin and setup my VM router does this take over the broadband and then BT cancel my contract, account etc?? Sorry if I sound thick. Cheers.

Virgin uses a different cable to BT, and the two services can run side by side. You need to look for the previous Virgin connection point which should be there if they send you a Hub to connect yourself. Don't cancel BT until Virgin is working correctly.

Oh wow...I literally didn't even know that lmao...I just looked and in my living room there is in fact a virgin media box. BT installed there own last year in my bedroom.
Anyways, thanks for that mate, but also, you're saying I have to phone BT up and say I've joined virgin media? If my router works OK on the virgin media cable.

If you want to keep your landline phone number you need to get Virgin to arrange a transfer. If you just cancel with BT you will lose it.

Hello Acejacko32.
Thanks for joining our Community and also welcome to Virgin Media.
Can I please ask if you have been able to activate our service now and cancelled BT?
Can you let us know how things are please.
