Changing cable

Hi,

I have just moved house, and have been able to get WiFi working, but I only have a short hard wired cable in my virgin media socket. I would like to add the longer cable that came in the start up kit so my router doesn't have to dangle from the socket in the way it currently is.

Does anyone know how or whether I can do this or if an engineer needs to come out?

Re: Changing cable

the internal box has been removed at some time so there is no isolator which you need - the new cable has one built in so get one of these -

https://www.diy.com/departments/tristar-data-cable-coupler/571706_BQ.prd

and all will be as it should be

if you want a neater job after that then you need a tech - best to book it now as they may want to charge you £99 in the future - if you call it in say its not working - turn the hub off so thats [sort of] true or they may not book a tech

or wait for VM who may book a tech - that may be delayed until lockdown is over though
