Cable already connected to Virgin Wall Socket

Hi

I have recently purchased Hub 5 with the self install option

I have a virgin socket but there is already a cable plugged into it which leads into the street.

I’m not sure if I should unplug this and plug in the new cable I’ve been given in the self install kit?

I would suggest the cable is just going down behind the skirting board, someone has very neatly hidden it away - follow the skirting board, and see where it's going to - at the worst, you should be able to see where it's been cut off (if it has).

You can unscrew it or look around the flat to find the end of it and use that instead.  It's not going back out to the street

Just unscrew it and plug in the hub, it might work. Perhaps there in a hidden cable going to the box, try unscrewing the front cover if the first action does not work.

The other side of the wall is the exterior of the house so wasn’t sure if I could just take it out

The white cable inside will not be the cable to the outside.

There will be a seperate connection inside the interior wall box.

I see - I’ve disconnected the old wire and connected the new one. The hub seems to be working fine, speeds are great so far
