Wondering if anyone has been in a similar position and can shed some light… recently moved into a property, where struggling to get decent internet service; fibre to exchange, then copper to premises, and then being told there is no space in the box for us at present.
however, avonline networks have been working in the area and installed a virgin media device at the top of the phone mast at the end of our street. This was 3 months ago and we’ve had no indication that virgin will be starting to provide a service, and no further work has happened.
does anyone know how soon we could expect virgin to begin providing service after the install by avonline networks?
thanks

Hi gstephenson1004, thanks for the message and welcome to the forums.
We we are upgrading the network we will connect all properties at the same time once everything is in place.
When you check the street works website is there an estimated end date of when the works will be complete?
Hopefully we have this up and running soon.
Kind regards, Chris.

Hi,
looks like it will be a FTTP install going on your street instead of the more common coax install by Virgin. As its using openreach ducts. I would just keep your eyes peeled for any updates on the Virgin website when entering your post code. It can take up to 6 months as they will be connecting up your area and testing the new installation.

Hi Chris, thanks for the response. I’m unsure where I would find that information on that street work website, but I haven’t seen the avonline network vans in the neighbourhood since august; this is when they were installing all of the boxes at the top of the phone masts in the area. The area is SR6 8AL, if that is any help?
thanks

Any updates? Still no sign of it becoming active. Close to having to sign up to approx. 6MB download speeds here to just have some internet other than 4G in the street which is shockingly bad

Unfortunately if there has been no update with this - then there wouldn't be one to give.
I can appreciate that with the speeds you're having at the moment you would like this to be asap. I assure you if plans are in place then you will be notified. The best way to be informed also is to pop your postcode in on our website, as this would confirm any changes.
Cheers,
Ryan.
