Broadband Set Up

Hi,

My flatmates and I recently signed up to Virgin Media broadband as we were told that the previous tenants had used Virgin and we wanted to keep things simple. This was all fine and the router box showed up promptly.

However, the cable with the box we have been sent won't plug into the wall where we have been informed the previous box was plugged in. I have attached a picture of the wall socket. We thought that this was an aerial connection (on the right in the image) and the cable with the box seems to have too wide a diameter to fit this plug. We believe the cable supplied is coaxial but we are not entirely sure.

Is it possible to set up broadband with this sort of connection?

Thanks

That isn't a VM outlet. Look elsewhere for it, it could also just be a loose cable coming through a wall.

Thanks for this.

We thought this might be the case but were confused because of what we had been told previously.

Sometimes there's a wall socket with the logo of one of VM's predecessors, e.g. NTL or Telewest, and if so use it.

Thanks for the suggestion. We haven't found one yet but we'll keep looking!

Hey JJD333, thank you for reaching out and a warm welcome to the community, I am sorry to see you've not got the right box fitted.

I will send you a PM now so we can look into this. Thanks
