Best broadband only deals retention?

Looking to downgrade my package and move to VM stream. Currently have maxit and sky sports (not HD) with 250mb, paying £64

Think the best bet is to try and cancel and say I just want broadband and see what they offer.

What have people got recently on broadband only?

If I can get the above package down to £50/55 a month with HD sky sports would stick with it.

In all honesty, what others have got is of no relevance to yourself - it's what you can get elsewhere that matters. Remember VM retentions will have good knowledge of what alternative providers exist in individual postcode areas - and will tailor offers accordingly.

It's a rhetorical question, but to illustrate the point - why would VM want to offer heavy discounts to a customer they know has little choice and is unlikely to cancel? Whereas in an area they know has good broadband competition...

So do your homework on alternatives first. If you call VM armed with facts & figures, then you come across as prepared.

In my view the bigger your package the more discounts you get. If you ask just for broadband you'll get a quote more than other ISPs. Unless Stream provides something you want but can't get elsewhere, consider dumping VM for a cheaper ISP and get the other stuff from an aerial or satellite dish plus a streaming device which provides the Now app for the NOW Sports membership (current discounted deal is £21pm for six months). As always work out the costs carefully.
