As much as it pains me, do I cancel an engineer visit? How's my numbers?

I've got my stuff working, there is a bit of a tasty earth on the coax but everything is working and 554down/40up is enoughly plenty OK,

Down: 32 QAM256 channels, 40db SNR.... 1 to 6 dBmV,   About 60 shaper-errors in total over a day.
Up:      4  QAM64's...    about 37dBmV (! is that 5V?!)   0 timeouts.

@ Stephi, can you just check this looks OK, if it does I'll get the covers back on.. Can you send a 5M SMA cable and a coupler please.?

Cool,

VM won't send out the coax cables. You'll need a technician to come and fit what you need.

Yeah they're booked to come from when it wasn't working, so it is still a fault call, right? 🙂

If this is a new installation, it will be treated as a manned installation.   Whether that is charged will depend on what was offered when the contract was agreed.

If it was a fault to an existing installation, any non-fault work such as additional cables will be charged at £25.

Yeah I'll just make a cable. I can see just before I swapped it there was no DHCP, then stuck an *old* one in and it works perfect speed wise, but is it blasting the network with noise,?.. VM might as well give me the keys to the street cabinet and keys for the Cadent ssh.. Honestly though, 6 days is better than the weeks we got £200 from CISAS for previously

This makes it not not-a-fault-call I recon! We'll have our pound of petrol-usage out of them! It'd be like cancelling new-years on boxing-day!!
Good call

I don't think you'll get a technician visit for one T3.

Re: As much as it pains me, do I cancel an engineer visit? How's my numbers?

Yeah I wasn't going to paste them all...
If you work for VM, fair play, you'll know my kit numbers to have a look, at the numbers, cheers.! 🙂  ..  And what if something does go wrong between now and then, is it another week to wait?

You've jumped on a thread a bit late, earlier was the explanation I've got a visit booked.! Only by my own engineering & keeping old kit have I got a working system... And there is a noticeable earth float..

I'll decide a couple of hours before the slot how it's looking... After a week of waiting I'd have been glad to see them, I might as well get the rush of excitement like when you buy Xmas presents in November but save them until the day!

OH the Irony!!! Cancelled the engineering-team visit and a day later ........... ?

: OH the Irony!!! Cancelled the engineering-team visit and a day later ........... ?
The very day later, for the first time in the history of the house (unlike next door who's done it twice!!!)  "we've" managed to put the cable through the hedge trimmer.! Just down low at the edge-box.. Sort of at the same level seemingly, as *alll* the ants that live in our postcode who must reside in there..
Just on a day I need the internet to be in a radio-show recording, and there is tonight Leicester-City on the TV.!

Inbound-signal only is OK for TV just joining the centre of the coax gives us TV (and the match!! 🙂) . (sod the phones )..
There's no response to upstream ranging on the modem but in only 5 days we can have another engineering visit.!!!

So I'll be out there tomorrow witch some solder-sleeves trying to grab a bit of inner-sleeve to grab to on both.

I knew it..! I am Murphys' personified!! 🙂

Re: OH the Irony!!! Cancelled the engineering-team visit and a day later ........... ?

New street-wire coming Tuesday, thanks VM we are sorry to have cut our own wire!! Cut at foot-level too it'll need a new full-span dropping in..

Using heat and skill, I melted the coax together pushing the centre wires into the opposing core so they touched. Then melted the ground foils and wrapped them together with copper wire. together. Joined the shield. With a *lot* of fiddling managed to get the modem to range!! 🙂
550Mbit inbound, 36 out... Wow RF data over coax always amazes!

And the blue-pair gave me the phone back..! 🙂

Cool, just sayin.......
