Hi,

I'm currently at my wit's end... really hope I'm able to get a human being to help rather than going round in circles as I have been until now.

I've just purchased a property and am lining up a broadband connection.

Virgin appear to supply the top of the street, but seem to have stopped short of our house (barely 100m away).

Ofcom's speed predictions for my house:

Standard: 12 Mbps download, 1Mbps upload
Superfast: 37 Mbps download, 8Mbps upload
Ultrafast: Unavailable

Ofcom's speed predictions for a house 100m away at other end of the street:

Standard: 12 Mbps download, 1Mbps upload
Superfast: 80 Mbps download, 20Mbps upload
Ultrafast: 500Mbps download, 35Mbps upload

Entering my postcode shows I'm not in a Virgin supply area. Entering the postcode of the house at the end of my street shows they are.

So my questions:

  1. How is this possible?
  2. What can I do about it / who should I contact?

I've tried looking for an email to contact someone. I've tried tweeting. I've tried to call, but got stuck in the automated responses.

Thanks

Re: Access

Virgin don't install by postcode, except as a rough guide to where they might be available. They are not required to connect to every premise in that postcode and will only do so if it is economic, so there is no guarantee that you can get it installed.  Thay might however connect to the next houses outside that postcode, again if it's worth the cost. Ofcom won't know that fine detail.

Re: Access

If you want Virgin, you will have to apply for a connection to that specific address.

Re: Access

Enter your address details and if it says you can't get service then your enter your details at cablemystreet and wait. It could take a few months. Or years.

Re: Access

Just to add to the advice already given simpb2

If enough of your neighbours also express an active interest in joining Virgin Media by also filling in the cable my street form, we'll certainly review it and investigate as to whether it's viable to supply with our services.

Regards
