360 mini box ? USB

Hi does anyone know if the new 360 mini box can run on the power from a TV’s USB input.

No, it won’t.  You need to use the supplied power supply.

Oh really thought it would be similar to sky q .. no cable and powered via usb. only reason I got it really thinking that .. glad I asked before trying to set up. Will send back. Thanks Paul for your input.

The 360mini can only be used with the main 360 box.  It also needs it's own coax cable connection and either an ethernet or wifi connection to your Hub/router. It can only be powered with the supplied power supply.

Can the Sky Q mini be powered only by USB from the TV?!   

The Virgin TV 360 Mini boxes are a lot more powerful than the Sky Q ones, they have their own tuners rather than sharing the main box capabilities, and are all 4K UHD compatible, again the Sky ones aren't.  It's at the cost of being less mobile but I dont see that as an issue.

No - they're mains powered (unless something's changed!).

Devices such as some streaming sticks might be able to work with USB power, but STBs do a lot of processing and must be mains powered.
