network congestion or localised issue?

I tend to get a lot of latency on my internet connection and have had problems with voip calls in the past couple months and I set up a BQM after looking for help online.  I have hub3 in modem mode and connect to router with ethernet and I've lost count of the number of times I have rebooted modem/router recently.  The BQM link below is from Sunday, but midweek is similar just spikes come earlier in the day (2-6pm), doesn't look great but I'm no expert.  I generally get reasonable speedtest results and I'm certainly not overloading my network connection when the latency peaks.  I don't know how to read the modem status information, but is this more likely to be congestion ??  any help appreciated!

Re: network congestion or localised issue?

Hello

Looking at the BQM certainly looks like a lot like congestion / high utilization on your local network, can you also post your network logs, as on your downstream there a couple of channels that have a high number of Post RS errors which could be a noisy line.

Re: network congestion or localised issue?

Thanks Mike,
Here are the network logs.  I've been monitoring our LAN usage through the router as was worried the kids were saturating the home network with games/streaming etc but even now with kids at school and 1Mbps up and 3-5Mbps down across my entire LAN I'm seeing average latency around 50ms and max latency spiking off the chart and that's with 500Mb package.

Re: network congestion or localised issue?

Hello

Looking at everything together I am pretty sure that your local area is having an issue with high utilization, if you hang around a member of the VM forum team will get to the post and do some further checks on their side.

Re: network congestion or localised issue?

Is anyone from the VM forum team able to help with this, things only seem to be getting worse recently.  Experiencing >400ms pings this morning while trying to work.  Area reference is 20.

Re: network congestion or localised issue?

Phone it in as a bad connection (08:00 is the best time) or wait on here for a few days (6 to 7 days average) until one of the VM Forum Staff comes along.

If you wait on here Do Not bump the thread it will put it further down the VM 'to do list'.
