Work VPN now blocking internal website access

My Work VPN has worked fine on Virgin for over 3 years. (Please do not tell me VPN's are not supported)

Last week something changed.  The VPN still connects fine, but when accessing internal work websites. they are blocked. I get an ERR_Connection_Closed or redirected to http://advancedsearch2.virginmedia.com.

This is a Virgin media change, as if I tether to my work phone, on a different service provider everything works, confirming there is no issue with the VPN itself (please do not suggest this as a solution)

Please assist me to help get things back to how they were.

what does your work IT dept say? have they encountered this before and offered any suggestions?
have you turned off websafe?
have you turned off ANES?

basically, what troubleshooting have you already done?

Disable the advanced network search.

Go here when not connected to your VPN - https://my.virginmedia.com/advancederrorsearch/#.

(and you’re right, VPN’s aren’t supported).

That it is a Virgin media issue and there is nothing they can do.  As stated above this appears to be correct as it works fine tethered to my phone which is not on Virgin Media.

They have not encountered it before and suggested contacting Virgin media technical support.

Just the basic line diagnostic and reset, and reboot everything.  This changed nothing, but the line is and was working, it is the website blocking that is the problem.

both links available via a basic google search.

if those fix the problem you should tell your IT dept so that they are aware and can advise any future employees with the same issue. i would have expected them to hepl you with basic troubleshooting though, that's what we do, and they seem to have washed their hands of the issue which doesn't make them look good. they should be doing what they can to support you.

Both of these do nothing for me to help with the problem.

websafe https://www.virginmedia.com/help/how-to-use-websafe
ANES https://my.virginmedia.com/advancederrorsearch/

Websafe no longer seems to work as described in the how to use websafe video.

Advanced search is already switched off.

As per the problem description, I only have issues when on the VPN.  Neither of the above will have changed.

so is websafe turned on or off? regardless of what the video shows.
you said in your opening post that you get redirected to "http://advancedsearch2.virginmedia.com/main?" that suggests that ANES is indeed turned on.

how are you accessing the internal websites? via the full URL or an IP adresss/intranet address?
