Wifi keeps dropping out

Having an ongoing problem where my wi-fi appears to drop out, meaning my remote connection is lost for, say, a minute or so. Which is making remote working all but impossible.

Downstream and upstream data here if it helps. If I had a tether, I'd be at the end of it.

BTW, I have no ethernet connection on my laptop.

Cheers, Nick

Re: Wifi keeps dropping out

I haven't actually. Will need to use a USB to ethernet, which I don't have, but I'll order one.

Cheers, Nick

Re: Wifi keeps dropping out

It's always a good thing to have on hand, and always recommended to use wired connection for work use in my opinion

If I've helped please let me know 🙂 Matt

Re: Wifi keeps dropping out

Yeah, it's a good idea, but four people are connecting to the wifi and we can't all run a cable.

At my GF's house, also on Virgin, I never have a disconnection, so something is obviously up.

Re: Wifi keeps dropping out

Understood, technology never works the same in one place to another or in different situations... specially WiFi.

The issues could well be an issue with the hub but at the same time it could be an area issue with too many WiFi routers interfering with each other, it could be a fault with the connection to the network.

WiFi is a service that isn't guaranteed for many reasons, mainly because its not possible to make it reliable in all settings, the mention of using wired connection is recommended for crucial connections such as for working or where slight blips will be detrimental such as online gaming.

If I've helped please let me know 🙂 Matt

Not sure what you're suggesting as a fix.

Re: Wifi keeps dropping out

Well currently we need to be testing the wired connection make sure its a WiFi issue and not a broadband issues (ie. Virgin network)

If the issue is WiFi then we can try some resets and separating networks and try resolve the issue, however Virgin don't guarantee WiFi connections so going to them without first checking wired connections isn't going to get you very far.

Re: Wifi keeps dropping out

OK, so Ethernet connected and connection now stable with no dropouts, so I guess it's a Wi-Fi issue. What now?
