Wifi compatibility with 2.4g wifi on dual band wifi, Hub 3.0

I have purchased a BG 240V Smart Socket for use with my VM Hub 3.0 and Alexa.

The publicity for the socket clearly states that it is compatible only with 2.4g wifi but it will not connect to the Hub 3.o saying that the connection is 5g.

Can anything be done to allow it to connect?

You can split your current SSID into two, as I have done with my router/HUB:

This means you decide which band to connect to instead of the HUB.

Go into the hub's wireless settings and give the 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz wireless networks individual names.  By default they use a common name, and that confuses some devices.

Yes and no.
Yes - I have sorted out problems with 2.4g devices recognising the 2.4g network
No - I cannot get the BG socket to recognise the network so its going back to Amazon.

I am sure I will be back soon with yet another problem!!
