Wifi booster splitter

I have wifi pods and my TV is connected via ethernet cable. Having just bought a streamer I want it to have ethernet connection as well. Tried connecting an ethernet splitter however when connect the tv to it, it does not connect. Any ideas on why it does no connect or if it needs a special type of splitter. when connect the splitter and connect it to my computer it works so it is not the splitter that is not working

Get an unmanaged switch with 1GB ports - similar to the one below - and connect it to the Hub and then use the individual ports to connect devices one per device.
