WiFi speeds drop off and pick up weirdness

Have a Superhub 4.

2G and 5G signals are named so I know what I am using.

MacBook Pro running macOS Big Sur - wifi connected to 5G signal. Daily finding speeds dropping to absolute garbage. Have discovered that if I connect to 2G then go back to 5G it returns to expected speeds - this is me touching nothing else other than shifting back and forth on the MacBook Pro.

Anyone got any ideas why and how to avoid this being a thing?

5G signal first thing...

select 5G - nothing on hub touched...

What gives?

That's a weird one. Maybe a Hub4 user can offer some insights.

Have you considered ditching the Hub's wifi and using your own better quality wireless equipment? I dis that 20 years ago and I am Apple kit only and never have had any wifi issue

Re: WiFi speeds drop off and pick up weirdness

I do have an Apple Airport upstairs connected to Powerline adapters.

Happy to kill off the Superhub 4 if I can determine the best option. Need to take advantage of the 1Gbps as much as possible.

Re: WiFi speeds drop off and pick up weirdness

What package are you on - the 350 or 1Gb. Up and down speeds look like the 350 package. Have you just upgraded from 350 to 1 Gb ?

What speeds do you get when connected on a good Cat5e/6 ethernet cable directly into the Hub?

Re: WiFi speeds drop off and pick up weirdness

Went from 200 to 1GB.

Cat 6e hardwired I hit the below...

Not complaining about the Wifi speed - more about the puzzle of why it slows soo much without touching anything, moving anything. It isn't other signals hopping on and off my frequencies.
