WiFi signal extender

Hi, I have a very poor WiFi signal in my garden both front and rear.

Can I buy and make of wifi extender or does it have to be a Virgin media one?

I’ve currently got a BT Wifiextender 750 which won’t even find my signal in the same room as the Hub.
TIA

you could investigate VM's "wifi pods" which come at a cost of £5 per month (or free if you're on an ultimate oomph or gig package).

or you can buy your own 3rd party router/mesh setup (which imho is preferable to renting equipment from VM..)

Re: WiFi signal extender

Hi thanks

I’m on 100 mbps which I guess is not the fastest VM provide.

the speed of the connection has nothing to do with the quality of the wifi.. and looking at the extender you have, there's no reason it won't work with the hub.. but the hub is a basic device and the wifi it provides is, based on these forums at least, pretty unreliable.. as I doubt you're eligible for a free wifi pod from VM, you can either try to work out why your current BT extender isn't working with your hub or you can look into alternatives.. an entry-level mesh system should provide you with reliable wifi around your property (perhaps extending to the garden) and will probably cost in the region of £130.

Re: WiFi signal extender

Hello @NGC,

Welcome back to the community page, thank you for posting on here.

I am sorry that your internet is not reaching you gardens.

I have managed to locate your account using your forums details, I can see that the WiFi is running slower than normal, this is due to some devices being too close to the Hub, please can you make sure you move any devices away from the Hub that could be causing this?

Please let me know how you get on.

Look forward to hearing back from you. 🙂

Re: WiFi signal extender

Hi Thanks for looking into this for me, when I moved the extender into the room nearest the garden and left it switched in for an hour it sorted itself out and now is working fine.

Again many thanks
