WiFi routinely falling over

Started a new thread as requested.

Approximately once per hour, our WiFi will either slow to a crawl or stop altogether. Normally recovered after 1-5 minutes on average.

Network log below. Apologies for the passive aggressive user name - I've spent my whole Sunday troubleshooting this and being on hold for support.

Grateful for any suggestions.

Re: WiFi routinely falling over

Network log looks normal for a cable connection.

Connect to the hub by clicking on this link http://192.168.0.1/  That should pull up the log in page for the hub.  But don't log in, just click on the link "Check router status"  That'll bring up a window with five tabs.  Open the Downstream tab.  Select all the text (Ctrl-A if using a keyboard), copy it (Ctrl-C), then paste it (Ctrl-V) into a reply here.  Post that, do the same for the Upstream and Network log.  You'll get an error message when you post the Network log, just click on "post" a second time.

Then we can check for any obvious problems with power, noise or error counts.

Re: WiFi routinely falling over

For better wifi get your own wireless router with 1Gb ports and use the hub in modem mode.

Re: WiFi routinely falling over

Really? Like I've purchased Virgin Media's service and I need to make an independent purchase to make it work?

Every other ISP I've been with I used the stock router and it... worked..

Re: WiFi routinely falling over

Set up a BQM as per below. There are a couple of tweaks to try on the Hub3 that might help. Switch off "channel optimisation" and separate the 2. & 5 GHz banns by giving them distinct SSID's and see it it helps.

set up a free and secure “Broadband Quality Monitor” to continually monitor the state of your connection and record any true network dropouts , latency issues, packet drops, etc - it will thus allow you to differentiate between those and simple wifi dropouts. It does it 24/7/365 and it keeps a visual record of any/all of your network disconnections, useful data to have to match to the Network logs (in your Hub settings) and also in discussions with VM - note it will take a few hours to start seeing a sensible picture - post up the “link” to the “share live graph” (as per instructions on the TB website) when it starts to develop.

Re: WiFi routinely falling over

Wow.. thanks jbrennand that sounds useful (and interesting.) I'll need some time to figure that out, set it up and play with the settings as you suggest. Will update here.

Thanks again!
