Wi fi speed fluctuations and Old Router

I have been with Virgin for many years, but still using the router provided at the outset. Recently my wi fi has been fluctuating a lot.  Would a more modern router help?

Re: Wi fi speed fluctuations and Old Router

Which Router do you have?  If it's a SuperHub 1, 2 or 2ac, then an upgrade is due.  If it's a Hub 3, 4 or 5 then there is no upgrade as such.

Re: Wi fi speed fluctuations and Old Router

That wont be changed unless it is "faulty"

So are the issues only evident on wifi connections or do you see them at the same times on devices connected on ethernet cables? If you don't know, can you check to help diagnose whether it is just a wifi issue or it could be network connection/Hub related?
