I have been trying to opt out of the Hotspot system but I am unable to. I log in to virgin media > My profile > opt out radio button highlighted .> save. System reports that settings cannot be saved at this time. This has been going on for days. I thought that I had opted out months ago.
Re Virgin being a Morris Minor - I was with Virgin, went to Sky and came back to Virgin and was really glad to.be shot of the other firm. My experience of the other firm would be Lewis Hamilton driving a Trabant. IMHO Sky Customers Services are pretty good. If you could combine the best of both systems and Sky Customer Services that would really be something.
Virgin intenet is more reliable and generally faster.
I didn't get to the bottom of this Hotspot thing but I think many have tried.
If you uninstall the Virgin Connect App I am not sure whether that disconnects you from the hotspot but the point is without that you cant see the Hotspot.
I've tried to opt out for you but I've been unable to also. I've raised a ticket to ask IT to take a look and hopefully we'll be able to force the opt out for you. It can take up to 10 days but they may process it sooner.
