Wi-Fi keeps dropping

For the last couple of days the hub3 seems be showing the green Wi-Fi light and also flashing green Wi-Fi light. I have followed the normal steps to reboot the hub but it’s still coming back. I reset the router status to get a fresh log. Can anyone advise what’s happening ?

Re: Wi-Fi keeps dropping

The images are not showing.

Are wired connections OK?

Try a factory reset

Try using a Wi-Fi analyser app - does that show anything?

Re: Wi-Fi keeps dropping

Images should have come through now, wired connections are fine.

will a factory reset change the hub advanced settings ?

I have set up the bqm

Re: Wi-Fi keeps dropping

Your broadband connection looks fine to me, and you say wired connections are OK - so it suggests a Wi-Fi issue.

A factory reset will wipe any advanced settings/non default settings - so check what configurations you have made and note them so you can reinstate them if necessary.

To look at what's happening with the Wi-Fi I'd include the following;

  • Use a free Wi-Fi analyser app (available for laptops, smartphones or tablets)  to check the wireless environment - are there any neighbours hubs/routers clashing with yours.  InSSIDer is a good app to use and there are several others.
  • Try changing channels (avoid overlap - use say 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4GHz)
  • Make sure all wireless drivers are up to date
  • Look at the number of devices you're using, on each band
  • Neighbours using anything such as baby monitors?
  • Consider getting own good Wi-Fi router or mesh system - use VM hub in modem mode

Re: Wi-Fi keeps dropping

Hi deano_1007, thanks for your post.

I'm sorry to hear about the WiFi issues you've been experiencing. I've taken a a look into this using your forum details and wasn't able to identify any network problems, everything appears to be fine.

Further to the helpful advice above - we have a page on our website with troubleshooting tips for WiFi specific issues, take a look at those here and let us know if they help at all.
