Why does the small booster need to be plugged into the mains not an extension?

new to virgin - setting up a booster kit and just wondering if it matters that I’ve plugged the smaller on into an extension lead as the main socket closest to hub is in a cupboard. ..?

Ideally the wall and you need a Ethernet cable from the small booster to the hub.

some extension cables can interfere with the operation of powerline adapters (particularly those with surge protection). that's why it isn't "recommended".
