WPA/WPA2 ENCRYPTION KEY

Tuning in

Hi All,

Would someone be able to help me please?

I recently had Virgin Media installed and have managed to connect all my devices with the exception of one Smart TV. It is asking for a WPA/WPA2 Encryption Key. I have entered the WIFI password several times and when I do so the smart TV says 'Restricted Access, Your Connection To The Router Is Not Confirmed'

Needless to say, the internet doesnt work on the TV. Is there anything I need to do in the HUB homepage?

I have never had any issues with this TV before when connecting it to any other internet network, just Virgin.

I have tried calling Virgin, but that had no clue whatsoever.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Check to see if your TV can use WPS method instead of using password

Hi @maccajn

Normally TV's can't connect because they have ther wrong date and/or time.

Do you see the following screen? If so click on Continue.

Have you also tried via the WPS option in your TV wiifi settings and  pressing the WPS button on the hub?

A family member had this happen and a factory reset on the TV sorted it out.  Just check the date and time however as noted by @newapollo

If anyone knows how I could resolve this it would be greatly appreciated. Its driving me mad!

Hi @newapollo thanks for the above. Its interesting you mention the time and date, as these are incorrect on my TV which is odd.

I do see the above screen so I click continue but it only says I have restricted access. It looks like it is connected but nothing works for example Netflix, Disney etc.

How would I do the WPS option in my TV wiifi settings? I am not too sure what the WPS button on the hub is?

It looks as though we have a similar TV. I am trying to connect a Phillips Ambilight Smart TV.

Thanks again

Hi again @maccajn

If you can update the time on your TV then it may automatically connect to the internet when you perform the network search and enter the SSID and wifi password

The following video shows how to change the date and time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8xPTZY1vV0

It might be slightly different on your TV as you didn't provide the exact model number, the same goes for the following which describes how to set up the internet using the WPS button.

Select All Settings and press OK. Select Wireless and Networks and press right to enter the menu.
Select Wired or Wi-Fi > Connect to Network and press OK.
Select WPS then press OK.

Press the WPS button on your hub
On your TV select Connect and a message will be shown when the connection is successful
