Virgin Media DNS

Hi,

The DNS servers given out by the routers aren't resolving DNS for certain domain names:

dig @194.168.4.100 mail.tdrnetworks.com

; <<>> DiG 9.10.6 <<>> @194.168.4.100 mail.tdrnetworks.com

; (1 server found)

;; global options: +cmd

;; Got answer:

;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 47818

;; flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 1, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 1

;; OPT PSEUDOSECTION:

; EDNS: version: 0, flags:; udp: 512

;; QUESTION SECTION:

;mail.tdrnetworks.com. IN A

;; ANSWER SECTION:

mail.tdrnetworks.com. 0 IN A 62.252.172.241

mail.tdrnetworks.com does not resolve to this IP and this record has been the same for over 5 years.  Why is Virgin Media DNS caching a completely wrong value - what else is it caching that is completely wrong.

For the record against Google DNS:

dig @8.8.8.8 mail.tdrnetworks.com

 ; <<>> DiG 9.10.6 <<>> @8.8.8.8 mail.tdrnetworks.com

; (1 server found)

;; global options: +cmd

;; Got answer:

;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 18327

;; flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 1, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 1

;; OPT PSEUDOSECTION:

; EDNS: version: 0, flags:; udp: 512

;; QUESTION SECTION:

;mail.tdrnetworks.com. IN A

;; ANSWER SECTION:

mail.tdrnetworks.com. 12762 IN A 80.95.186.194

This is what it's meant to be correctly.

Can someone in networking / NOC look into this and fix this DNS and probably others as well.

Keith

Re: Virgin Media DNS

Could that mail server have once been on VM's network? Possibly an A record that was created back then and just never removed?

Re: Virgin Media DNS

Next question - this is an email server in a datacenter.  Why is it flagged as unsafe?  What list / RBL is VM subscribing too that deems it unsafe?

Re: Virgin Media DNS

Clean on 68/69 and clean on Google Safe Browsing.  Pretty sure the site is clean and this is a false positive.  Just annoying.
