Upload speed slows down

Hi All,

I recently upgraded from 200 down/20 up to 350 down/36 up.

I was more than happy with 200 mbps down, and upgraded due to my work using a VPN/proxy server, and wanted faster upload speeds to improve speed when working from home.

However, I am seeing (using SpeedTest every 30 mins) that the upload speed drops to <20 mbps almost every day.  After I reboot the router this returns to the 37 mbps that I have been achieving.  I have attached an image of this (note, download speed is limited by 100 mbps network port on the Raspberry Pi).

Screenshot 2021-01-17 at 18.18.35.png

I have also appended the HomeHub logs.

Any help gratefully received,

Jon

Considering you only have one upstream channel, when you should have four, it explains why you have an issue with upload speed.

Re: Upload speed slows down

You only have one Upstream Channel, you should have four and the Power Level on that one Channel is too high.

This will need an engineer to put right.

You can either call in (08:00 is the best time) or wait on here for a few days (6 to 10 days average) until one of the VM Forum Staff comes along.

If you wait on here Do Not bump the thread it will put it further down the VM 'to do list'.

Re: Upload speed slows down

Thank you.

For info, I have just rebooted the router and get all 4 channels back - but this will likely go back to 1 tomorrow:

The 'QAM' level is off on two channels so it appears you have an issue with your line.

The power levels are also too high which won't help things.

Re: Upload speed slows down

It’s also worth noting that a VPN is likely to slow your connection down depending what bandwidth restrictions they’ve implemented.

Re: Upload speed slows down

Yes - understood.

However, speed tests have been conducted on personal IT without the VPN, etc.

Many thanks,

Jon
