Unidentified network

Issue with my laptop only. All other devices are working.

Network is showing my private network (WiFi) and below it is showing unidentified network Ethernet 3 connection.

I can't access any sites on my laptop. Error messages say 'site can't be reached'.

Tried disabling the unidentified network but troubleshooting then reinstates it as a 'fix'.

Any ideas please? This keeps happening.

Re: Unidentified network

Please note that I am a bit of a technophobe! Apologies!

We have a router but the laptop is NOT physically connected to it by an ethernet. My son uses WiFi when using the laptop, but an unidentified ethernet 3 network keeps showing on the network status which results in internet problems.

This has been happening intermittently for weeks!

"Ethernet 3" is just a network adapter on your computer - usually it would just say "Ethernet", but I've seen driver updates cause them to be renamed before.. is the connection active, or  does it say "network cable unplugged" underneath it?

Can you open a command prompt (Start -> run -> cmd) and then type "ipconfig /all" and paste the output here please

Re: Unidentified network

Thanks for your reply.

It says unidentified network. Public network. Ethernet 3. IPv4 connectivity internet.

This morning the WiFi says no network access!

You need a space before the /all
